If Chardonnay had a world stage, Chardonnay du Monde would be it. Held annually in Burgundy—Chardonnay’s spiritual home turf—this competition has been swirling, sniffing, and celebrating the globe’s best for over 30 years.

Since the early 1990s, it has built a reputation as one of the most respected (and toughest) Chardonnay-only competitions in existence. Here’s why a win here is a big deal:

  • Expertly Judged: Hundreds of wines are tasted completely blind by an international panel.
  • Level Playing Field: No labels, no reputations—just what’s in the glass.
  • Selective Honours: Medals aren’t handed out lightly, which is exactly what makes them so meaningful.

Which is why we’re doing a little happy dance over here at JoieFarm Winery.

A Silver Lining for the Naramata Bench

Our Un-Oaked Chardonnay just brought home a Silver medal, making it one of only a small handful of Canadian wines recognized this year. In a sea of global entries—many from Chardonnay’s Old World strongholds—standing out like this feels pretty special. See the full list of Canadian winners, and you understand why!

If you know us, you know we like to keep things fresh (literally and figuratively). Our Un-Oaked Chardonnay is all about bright orchard fruit, zippy acidity, and a clean, mineral finish – no heavy oak, no fuss, just pure, expressive Chardonnay. It’s the kind of wine that plays well with food, friends, and sunny afternoons… and apparently, international judges too.

We’re especially proud to see a Naramata Bench wine standing tall among some of the world’s most celebrated regions. It’s a reminder that great Chardonnay can come from all corners of the globe, including right here in British Columbia.

Let’s Raise a Glass

So yes, we’re honoured. And yes, we’re celebrating (responsibly, of course). Here’s to keeping things lively, balanced, and just a little bit unexpected—exactly how we like our wines.
